yucky day off

Today was my regular day off and I spent most of it in bed/sick and yucky. I hate days like this. I like spending my days off doing productive things. I was supposed to clean the house today and finally finish my laundry from the weekend. That sadly didn't happen. I did however wake up early to do my daily workout. After that James and I met my parents at another cake shop, and I'm glad to say that we finally have picked a place to make our cake! I am so excited. We went with red velvet cake (because of the color, obviously), coconut pecan filling, and almond butter cream icing. It tastes like pure love. I'm so excited to eat it! We are also getting cookies that look this to go around the cake.

Aren't they as cute as can be? I may be more excited about these cookies then the cake its self.

This means most of the wedding details are done.
This also means I'm going to try and go back to bed.

good-bye three day weekend.

I had to go back to work today after my lovely three day weekend. I was sad to see it go because they are few and far between. I think the next time that I'll have that many days off in a row will be my wedding which is at the end of May. I can't believe that it's already the end of January and that my wedding is in a little over four months! It has been going by so fast. Speaking of wedding, yesterday Tess and I went to a bridal fair here in town. She was nice enough to tag a long with me while I looked at floral arrangements, DJs, different types of cakes, and all that other stuff. It was really fun, and the hotel that was hosting the event was beautiful. They had these huge windows that had over looked the snowy Sandia mountains. It was gorgeous. I hope my family members stay there during my wedding. Tess and I were thinking of a doing a girls night there a few nights before my wedding. We can drink mamosas(sp?) and go down to the casino and then go back to the hotel room to watch chick flicks and talk about boys. I think it's a great idea.

That's all for now. I had a long day of work and I'm ready to lay in bed and paint my nails
this color:

It's china glaze's good witch from their wizard of oh ahz collection.

I also have an early morning date with the wii cardio followed by ANOTHER cake testing.

Good-night

weekend update.

(I can't remember where I found this, sorry :()
Isn't it lovely?

Yesterday James, my parents, and I went cake shopping. Again. When you are having a day of the dead themed wedding and you're looking for a black, white, and red cake people look at you like you're crazy. So I think we found a cake maker that can make us just what we want and the price tag is right, which is super important to us. Yesterday was actually one of the first stress-free wedding planning days that I've had in a long time so that was really nice. Oh! We also found a DJ which up to this part has been impossible. To me the DJ wasn't the most important thing, but it's important to my dad so he totally had free range of that. This DJ seems really professional which is nice. He is also jewish (which is rare in New Mexico) so he has music to play for the hora and the kiddish. I'm so excited. Things are really coming together which is nice because the wedding is in a little over four months and it has been going by so fast! I'm glad that I'm documenting it so I have something to look back in years from now.

Today Tess and I are going to a bridal fair so that should be really fun. I've been looking forward to it for weeks now.

Ok I'm off to get ready for day.

friday faves.

Heeellllo three day weekend! How I've been looking forward to you for days and days! This weekend is going to be awesome. Today I'm spending the day in bed/cleaning/knitting. Tonight I'm going out for dinner and then possibly the karaoke bar to find a potential DJ for the wedding. I usually prefer spending Friday nights at home watching movies or having friends over for game night, but I guess I need to be a 21 year old every now and then. The rest of the week end is up in the air. Possibly a day trip to Santa Fe, maybe a bridal fair, we'll see. But onto my favorites for this week...

Favorite Movie:

Favorite Song
:
The Bon Savants-"Between the Moon and the Ocean"

wednesday .

Another looong day of work. We have this whole new set up going on and putting it together has been exhausting. I can not wait until my long weekend. I have Friday-Sunday off which is completely rare at my job. I have so much extra vacation time and I need to use it at some point so I figured I'd take a mental health weekend.

In other news, yesterday James and I picked out our wedding cake! I am so excited. It's going to be devil's food cake with raspberry filling and almond butter cream icing. The one that we picked is actually the one that James picked out. The boy has good taste. Yesterday I also got glasses.
See?

I totally adore them. I feel like they belong on my face. I feel so much more confident when I wear them. Is that weird?

That's all for tonight. Good night.

monday monday.

What a long day of work. I am so glad that I am off tomorrow and that I'm that I'm taking an actual weekend off. I haven't had this many days off in a row since May so it is well deserved and well needed. When working retail and being an assistant manager you never really get a chance to take vacation, but an opportunity arose and I jumped on it. A mental health weekend is just what the doctor ordered.

Tomorrow James and I are meeting up with my parents at a bakery that will possibly be making our wedding cake! I am so excited. I think that this cake testing is the thing that I've been looking forward to the most besides my actual wedding day. We're thinking of going with a marbleized cake since James is partial to devil's food and I love white cake. I will be sure to take photos and update on the whole experience.

Speaking of photos, this is a picture of our most recent addition to our family.

This is Wolfman, he came into our lives Saturday night. He was my soon to be mother-in-laws dog but he got to be too much of a handful for her. He's sweet and keeps my other dog on his toes.

And this is the love of my life, my original fur baby, Rocky.
They are both as cute as I can be.

And this is me.

Good night.

bridesmaids.

This is the photo of my lovely bridesmaids.

From L to R: Jennifer-my future sister-in-law. Tess-friend/best mans girlfriend. Kellykins-my bff, partner in crime and Maid of Honor. Her dress is going to be black with the red peeking through. The other girls are going to be wearing the red with black peeking through. There is a bridesmaid missing which is my cousin Chelsey who is New York. They all look so lovely and I can't wait to see how everything turns out the wedding day. That's all for now. I'm off to work. Update later.

weekend update.

Yesterday was an interesting day to say the least. I woke up and did my wii cardio for 30 minutes even though I was still under the weather and felt like death. On days I don't workout I feel sluggish so I thought working out would boost my energy a bit and make me a feel the slightest bit better. It sort of did. After I worked out I got ready and headed over to my parents' house. From there my mother and I went to the bridal shop where I bought my wedding dress because my maid of honor and two out of the three bridesmaids where picking out and purchasing their dresses! It was so exciting to experience that with them because they all have such different personalities and different shapes. They all looked amazing! (Picture post later today hopefully). After the bridal shop we headed out for lunch with everyone, minus my maid of honor. James when to go pick my dad up and they met us there as well. Lunch was not so much fun. My parents have been as sweet as can be with helping us out with the wedding but sometimes it gets too overwhelming for me. Our wedding theme is day of the dead which is very nontraditional and think that that has been kind of difficult for my father to wrap his head around. I understand that they are the soul contributors to this wedding but essentially I want James and I to be happy with it before anyone else is. But no more complaining. I slept well last night with my pugster and new aphan pincher in tow. More on that later. I am running late for work.

boo, sick day.

I had to call into work today because I am definitely under the weather. I woke up feeling completely yucky with a fever, a sore throat, and a tummy ache. I absolutely hate calling out of work, I always feel guilty even though I am legitimately sick. So I have spent the majority of my morning in bed watching Weeds and trying to be crafty. I figure if I'm home from work I might as well be productive without getting out of bed. I wish James didn't have to work this morning otherwise we could have cuddled in bed and he could have made me lipton soup, which is my absolute favorite soup when I'm sick. Right now I'm eating pasta which is sort of making me feel better. Boo, I should try and get some sleep if I'm going to go out tomorrow and help my bridesmaids pick out their dresses.

hi, world

Ahh to be home and tucked away in bed with my puggy. After a long day of work there is nothing better then coming home, showering, making a tuna sandwich and curling up to a bad movie with my love-pug. The only thing that could make nights like these better would be if James came home from work at a decent hour instead of at midnight. Boo.

Tomorrow should be a delightful day. After I get out of work Kelly and I are going to Hobby Lobby to finish our aprons! Yesterday we took an impromptu sewing class at Hobby Lobby, and we started making cutesy dainty aprons. It took us a while to master the actual act of sewing so we didn't get a chance to finish the aprons which is why we're going back tomorrow. At $10 a class it's totally worth it. My apron is going to be black and white hounds-tooth with pink straps, pink heart-shaped pockets, and girlie black lace. I am so excited! One of my New Years resolutions has been to be more creative and I am definitely doing that to the fullest and I could not be happier.

That's all for tonight.
